Modernist Masterpiece | RCP London

I discovered Royal College of Physicians via @studionicholson. I saw their AW2017 lookbook and I was like “Oh, wow, this building is gold !” So I did a little digging around and found this modernist masterpiece in the heart of London, right next to Regent Park.

This Grade I listed building is designed by Sir Denys Lasdun who’s known for his marmite brutalist piece National Theatre sitting in South Bank. Unlike the concrete beast NT, RCP is a gentler modernist building with infusion of classical aesthetics.  And I just love when the architect didn’t hold back with the budget.

Floating marble staircase.

Of Course my sidekick couldn’t miss the opportunity.

Dimmed light at the quiet lift.

Never thought I’d say this. But give me some of that orange carpet!

Polished brass hand rails.

Murano glass mosaic tiles run through the building.

The RCP’s museum is open to the public with free admission. We didn’t make it to the exotic garden. So we will be back for another visit soon. Leave a comment below if you have any recommendation for a modernist architecture. I’d very much appreciate it. Thanks for reading this post. xxx
